Lever Park, Looking Towards Rivington.
Our glorious Indian summer continues in Britain so today I spent the morning painting in my local ‘patch’ – Lever Park near Rivington in Lancashire.
I have learned not to set out with fixed ideas of what to paint. I realised many years ago that psychologically, the best view is always just round the corner.
So I force myself to walk for maybe half an hour, then just sit down and start painting whatever view I have in front of me.
That tactic worked well yesterday and, although I didn’t create any finished paintings, I did enjoy myself immensely and probably learned a little bit more about how to paint this wonderful part of Lancashire.
