I’ve spent a of painting time outside this year enjoying being in the fresh air as I paint. This is one of the first paintings I created: a corner of the West Pennine Moors near my home town of Bolton.

It’s a quick sketch rather than a finished painting: I wanted to show the rhythms of the colours and textures and also show how the man-made farm building seems to be made of the same stuff as a landscape.
