My latest painting is another painting of Whitby – one of my favourite places.

This view you is from the beach looking towards the magnificent harbour walls with the two lighthouse beacons guiding fishing boats back to this famous seaside resort. It was the inky blue-black sea which inspired the painting. It seemed almost impossibly dark against the white breaking form from the waves on the beach.

A strong wind was whipping up the sea and blowing the few holidays makers back towards the warm cafes and the attractions of Whitby town. Meanwhile clouds were starting to mass over the North Sea and would soon cover the full moon which rose serenely above.
