I’m continuing with this seascape, trying to build up a depth of thick paint. 

Why thick paint? I like the way paintings look when painted thickly. There’s a generosity about laying the pigment on in deep tranches of ultramarine or ochre. Oil paint wants to be  applied in broad slabs of lustrous colour, it holds the brush marks in exciting patterns and each colour remains deep and true.
